Our office is located in the old Kawashimo Elementary School located in Tobetsu town, near Sapporo.

The school closed in 2004. We rent it from the town government.

 

This fifty year old building has weathered severe winters, and maintenance is a challenge. Sometimes when we couldn't notice, racoons have gotten into the loft and create their own kind of wear and tear.

 

Nevertheless, our vision is for the community to be able to use this school as a place where people can gather together and connect with nature. We hope it will be Community-Based Nature Center, that enables our neighbors to come together to learn about their local environment, and develop a strong sense of place. Because this school have been walking with the community.
